My name is Jason. I'm a software engineer, hiker and photographer traveling the world.
I love sharing my travels. I've wanted to create a place to share and document those stories for a long time.
I've enjoyed using Instagram and other platforms, but there's something missing. In a lot of those situations you share the very best of travel, essentially documenting a highlight reel of your adventures. I've tried to highlight the less glamorous in between moments in my Instagram stories but they feel disconnected from the full story I want to share and they eventually get lost to time. Instagram doesn't lend itself to organizing those things together in a good way.
I'm going to try to figure out ways to document these stories in a more meaningful way. This space is a way to explore that.
I made the decision to sell all of my stuff and go travel the world for a year or two. The date was set. I'd leave in June 2019 to start my world trip.
It was difficult to say goodbye to all my friends, but it was time to leave. At the end of June I said bye and set off for South America.
I was fortunate enough to spend about seven months traveling around South America until the pandemic started. I remember reading about some virus spreading quickly in February just after hiking Fitz Roy in El ChaltΓ©n.
I flew to Michigan for my cousin's wedding at the beginning of March. The day after the wedding, the state went into lockdown.
After two years I'll continue my world trip by traveling to Europe in the summer πππ
